Does anybody have any experience with Southern New Hampshire University? I don't recall seeing much about them here, but they have a wide variety of degree programs available online: http://www.snhu.edu/244.asp

I'm especially interested in either their Communications or Advertising undergraduate degree. I had all but settled on COSC for their communications degree. I have most of the credits I would need for the degree I believe (would just have to finish up about 20 Gen. Ed. credits), but I like the fact that SNHU has a B&M presence and their advertising program does look enticing. Any feedback, good or bad?

    re:SNHU

I am attending SNHU currently. I am about 1/3 of the way to my BS Business Studies. I don't know anything about the advertising program, but overall I have been very pleased with the school.

I only have time to take one class per term. I've had four excellent instructors and one that was mediocre. My GPA is 4.0 My advisor is always helpful via email. They accepted the majority of my old and moldy credits with no problem. Only my retroactive Spanish credits were rejected, but I got credit for the Spanish I actually took.

I have no problem with the technology involved (Blackboard). I did have my computer updated before I began and have highspeed internet.

So I recommend SNHU, even though I have limited experience. I do hope to finally achieve my degree from this school sometime in the future.

    Good luck!

I met an SNHU instructor at the AMA Winter Marketing Educator conference and I was very impressed with how the online programs are managed. From her description, I gathered that they have low instructor turnover.

I was mistaken. Southern New Hampshire University does have an undergrad Advertising program, but not available by DL. They do have a Communications undergrad available via DL, so I have written to them for more info. I should be taking my semester finals at Penn Foster College in about a month, and I plan to transfer the credit to another school and finish my BA or BS in Communications. Right now, my choices are either COSC or SNHU, whichever will give me the most transfer credit and will have the fewest requirements for me to wrap up my degree. I also have about 90 Communications and Journalism credits I earned in the military. I just have to finish some upper-level credit and some General Education requirements, and I should be done.

That's exciting to be that close. Please keep us posted on how things go and what you choose.

I got a package in the mail from SNHU. It looks like they accept military training for transfer credit, and they will also do a free transcript evaluation. Their web site states they have generous transfer credit policies, and you can apply online for free. You can even start classes before you are formally accepted. So far, I'm liking what I'm seeing from this school. I'm surprised I haven't read more about them here.

I know from experience, that SNHU is well-respected by employers throughout the country. Some of their degrees are much harder than others. For example, their B.A. in Mathematics is much harder than their Business Studies degree. But that is true for *any* University. Business degrees are typically very easy to complete no matter where you go to school. Having said that, SNHU is a top-notch school.

Heck, the current President visited SNHU. He even spoke highly of SNHU this year while giving a speech at the University of Buffalo:

I'm attending SNHU for their graduate degree in psychology with a concentration in industrial and organizational psychology. So far, I'm taking one class at a time and it's okay. It's very flexible at the graduate level. Their undergraduate program runs every 8-weeks, their graduate program runs every 11-weeks. Overall, I believe you won't be disappointed, at least not too much.
