I have been accepted into the Aspen MBA program that would allow me to utilize the $3000 prepayment option.

I am a professional salesman that also owns a business that I hope to grow in the ear future into a full time operation. I also have 10+ years of sales/management experience and do not have a hard time finding a job.

My goal is to get my MBA with the PM option and sit for the PMP after getting through the PM section of the MBA.

I feel that this would give me pretty strong credentials at this point in my life.
I never plan to teach anything, matter of fact, I suck at teaching. Unfortunately I am an impatient do-it-yourself-er.

What do you guys think? MBA for $3000 or not?

Sounds like you've already sold yourself on it. ;)

Getting a degree from a school with DETC accreditation can have its limitations. There may be jobs you cannot apply for, and there will be higher degree programs you cannot enter. Those are undeniable facts. But....

Nothing is absolute. Many graduates of DETC-accredited programs are quite pleased with their degrees. Aspen is a very good school. The price simply cannot be beat.

If you're reasonably sure such a degree will meet your present and foreseeable future needs, it is certainly something to consider. Good luck!

Hard to beat for the price...

Also, you may want to consider Aspen's self-paced study option. If you are indeed an 'impatient do-it-yourself-er', you may want to consider leveraging that towards a 'self paced' MBA (as I recall, shotojuko is powering though his graduate degree at CCU at an impressive rate).

    Just my 2 cents.

Many state government jobs require RA. Aside from that, I rarely see an RA requirement unless it is for state licensure. If you are reasonanbly sure you don't fall into these categories, I'd go for it.

Aspen is a great program. Yes, it is not regionally accredited, but my experience has been that it is of the quality of an RA school.

However, the original poster will want to make sure that a DETC-accredited degree will meet his current as well as future needs.

Tuition and books paid for Aspen courses are tax deductible. Am I correct?
Wow. What a bargain. If a person is interested in the field of education, an RA ED.S would complement the Master of Education degree from Aspen. For a prospective employee of a public school system, this may work in terms of salary increase and promotion potential.

That depends. You probably want to talk to your tax professional - there are a number of tax strategies for education now.
