I have a friend who is enrolled in the UoP DM in organizational leadership program. He's completed 18 credits worth of courses in the program, but is having second thoughts and looking around at other schools and programs to finish his doctorate. He's looked at Walden, Capella and NCU. I've been encouraging him to stick it out at Phoenix, but I'm wondering if there aren't any other distance doctoral programs in Org. Leadership that don't get talked about as much as the programs I've mentioned. If anyone knows of any real gems in OL, let me know. Thanks.
I don't know if this program is a gem, but Regent University offers the following. Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership Doctor of Strategic Leadership http://www.regent.edu/acad/global/academics/home.shtml
My favorite: Fielding Graduate University. Great faculty, fun format, a real "invisible college" atmosphere, regular residency opportunities, flexibility in content design, etc. Expensive, though.
Andrews University www.andrews.edu Antioch University www.antioch.edu Argosy University www.argosyu.edu
Good evening! Perhaps the EdD in Organizational Leadership at Nova Southeastern would be suitable, and more information can be found at http://www.schoolofed.nova.edu/orgleader/ on the web. Have a nice day!
I think the NCU curriculum in OL is one of the best I've seen. (http://www.ncu.edu/dpro_spec.asp?degree_program_code=PHD-BA&dp_version_id=7&dpro_section_main_id=325) I chose the program based on the strength of the curriculum. Cheers...
Hi Robb - I know that I'm taking the part of the bad guy with this comment but I just have to ask, if this is such a big issue with your friend, who is clearly accomplished, capable, articulate........why can't your friend register on the forum and speak for himself? It takes less than one minute. He needs YOU to talk for him, a PhD candidate? Step up to the plate big boy!
This forum, and another one, get so many of these, "my friend wants to know..." questions. I'm not sure why people don't just point their "friends" over to the sites where many others have likely trodden a similar path. I think it would be more helpful. Maybe some posters want to be THE go to answerman for their buddies. Either that or they really are the "friend". In that case, why not just register as a new user if embarrassment is a thought(not saying RobbCD is the "friend" at all). Another school with a decent program is Indiana Wesleyan University. They offer an EdD in OL... http://www.iwuonline.com/edd-in-organizational-leadership.htm . There is some residency requirements, though, but they are fairly minimal from what a co-worker tells me. Well, thanks for the help to those that helped. And for whatever the rest of this thread turned out to be, well thanks for that too, I guess. It's amazing, I've been on this board a long time and contributed to many, many threads. When I finaly ask a question, for whomever, I get static. Interesting.
Robb, FYI, since I attend Capella, and your friend is looking (or has looked) at Capella, I felt that the Capella option was covered. Shawn
It's like middle management Robb. The shit comes from both directions. If you can't duck then get out of the middle.
Don't I know it... Sometimes I laugh because we're all just doing the best we can and we end up putting our collective feet in our mouth. I keep forgetting that not everyone is as open and flexible as I try to be. So I hereby apologize for any flamers and antagonism that I've ever sparked and recommit to focusing on distance learning. Jacob
And I just thought I was offering some sound practical advice. But now that I think of it, I'm wondering why Jacob feels it necessary to apologize for things said in a thread to which he made no contributions? Just feeling generally contrite? Whatever for?
RobbCd, I conquer with Rich in regards to Fielding. http://www.fielding.edu/. They offer a Ph.D in Human and Organizational Systems and a Ph.D in Human Development. Is your friend willing to do residencies?
