For those who have completed an associates degree with Ashworth College, were you able to transfer credits to RA institutions without any problems?

I think I read a while back that NCU accepts an associates degree from Ashworth College is this true?

What other RA colleges do you know which would accept a degree from Ashworth College without any problems?

I'm an alumni of both Ashworth College and Southwestern. I have written about both schools and the transfer process at length so do an advanced search "Southwestern" in the title and "Ashworth" in the title. You should find several things I've written including 2 quasi-reviews.

But in short, yes Ashworth will transfer to Southwestern. The trick is to have them look it up in their DOE guide and do not get into a discussion about accreditation.

Other RA schools that accept Ashworth credit: Liberty, Bellevue, AMU

Bellevue offers the added bonus of accepting the entire AA degree as satisfying all core requirements, so all one would need for any of their BA programs would be the credits for the major and some electives.

    Peru State

Peru State should take it. The answer I received from director of institutional research was - " I don't see why we wouldn't, send over your transcripts and we will evaluate it." I am not quite done yet with Ashworth (1 Accounting class left) so I haven't sent my transcripts but, Peru will accept up to 75% of credits from other school which is a common practice. However, in the transfer policy it says they will accept up to 66 cr of vocational credit toward a degree becasue they offer a Bachelor of Applied Science in Business. I am unsure how they would rate the Ashworth degree as it is closer to an applied degree then it is to a traditional A.S. We will see! I am in my fourth semester at Peru and I have finished a good part of the Psych / CJ double major and it has been nothing but positive experieince so far. NCU will definately take the degree from Ashworth and they will let ou complete an additional 30 cr @ Ashworth at the Ashworth tuition rate. Which means that they will accept up to 90 credits from Ashworth. They have a learning partner agreement with them as well whcih will save you 10%up to $2000 on a degree. There are many other RA institutions that will take a degree from Ashworth as well you just have to do your research. Keep this in mind - (I hope I get this right, Dr. Bear or Dr. Douglas correct me please if I get this wrong) I am pretty sure that it was Dr. Rich Douglas who did his dissertation on distance learning and researched transfer policies around 7 or so years ago. His research showed that only around 20% of RA schools would consider a degree from a non-RA school. However, keep this in mind as well- there are over 3000 RA schools in the US alone not to mention some that have the accreditation in other countries - so there were > 600 schools that would potentially take a part or all of your degree from Ashworth, and that was 7 years ago, there may be more or less now.

    Western Governors University

My Alma Mater "Western Governors University" will accept any nationally or regionally accredited associate of science degree with no questions to waive all lower-division degree requirements. All associate of applied science degrees however must be evaluated on a case-by-case basis (which is code for "will be accepted if the degree is of value").

Best thing to do is narrow down your list to the schools you want to attend and then start contacting them to find out what their transfer policies are regarding nationally accredited schools.

    Southwestern College Credit Transfer

Southwestern College is RA and is associated with the United Methodist Church; they offer several online programs.

I wouldn't recommend them either. But I can imagine a situation where that school would be a good option for a person who just needed an RA degree (especially if they had NA credits).

But WGU or APUS would be better choices in terms of school reputation and affordability.
