I agree. I don't think they would fare well in a courtroom as long as the defense attorney is on top of his or her game.

The story surprised me. We often times see posts about people being fired because of diploma-mill degrees, but we don't normally see stories where these people get rehired.

    And yet ...

Read some of the posted commentary ...

The apologists' logic is just stunning.

A former internship colleague and I were recently bemoaning the proliferation of bogus claims simply being accepted as truth. Corporations lie about profits, losses, regulatory compliance. Educational institutions fudge standardized test scores, placement successes, or progress in approval/accreditation processes. Media darling "experts" flat out make up credentials or hide disqualifications. Let's not even go near the obfuscations in the political realm.

My intern friend and I suffered some real hardships getting to the point of earning our doctorates and we still have some hurdles to jump. Yet, there are people out there who do the same work we aspire to claiming to have the credentials we worked so hard to earn. We do openly wonder why we chose to "do it by the book" when so many others just claim they've done it and, by and large, people believe them.
