I spoke to NCU today after looking at their MBA program which costs less than the one I'm currently in. I'm not seriously considering switching, but I would like to know....what does your syllabus look like on average?

I have completed 16 courses at NCU.

The semesters are 12 weeks but you can accelerate your studies if you wish. No set semesters and a lot of flexibility. First of the month start dates. There are no co-horts (groups) which ensures you can work at your own pace. I have found the staff to be very attentive. You get an academic advisor and a learner affairs advisor as well as a mentor for each course.

You are going to find the coursework a challenge and a lot of writing assignments. You receive your syllabus up front and work to complete all your assignments as the semester goes along. Course assignments range from academic journal article reviews, research essays, projects, exams, powerpoint presentations, and term papers. There is usually a final paper or project that can range from 15 to 50 pages depending on the mentor and course.

I concur. A lot of researching, reading and writing. I am taking my time and enjoying the experience. I would like my MBA to be accredited by the CHEA-recognized ACBSP when I finish.

I agree with Craig. He is the one who sparked my interest in NCU. I have one more specialization in Ed.D organizational leadership and I will begin my dissertation studies. I have found NCU to be extremely writing intensive. I have been at it almost four years and anticipate another two years for completion. I enjoy the school's flexibility and autonomy which is necessary for us in law enforcement, not to mention the reduced tuition.
