Is Honolulu Univ. a legit and accredited university that does so? (sell degress) - or simply a degree mill like the many others?

    Oh, okay.

I found the uni´s website myself.

Unlike most countries, in the United States there is no national procedure for licensing or accrediting universities and colleges. Accreditation is voluntary and is not the function of the U.S. Department of Education. Because it is an international university, Honolulu University is a member, in full standing, of Akademie Fuer International Kultur-und Wissenschattsforderung (APICS), which accredits some of the oldest and most reputable universities and colleges in Europe and the Near East.

Actually, I´ve never heard of the "Akademie Fuer International Kultur-und Wissenschattsforderung" in any german speaking country (though, by the way, the concept of accrediting is almost totally new to those countries). Besides, when the claim to be accredited by some foreign institution, shouldn´t they even SPELL that name correctly? Sad...

("Akademie für internationale Kultur- und Wissenschaftsförderung" would be correct. SEVERAL mistakes in just 6 words...)

Once again, the medical degrees being offered is a very scary thing. Yes, we want to learn more so start anywhere. :)

    Hello all!
Just to give you a little background on how I know all that I do about Honolulu Univ.An agency that I work for was checking out HU for the last year. I can tell you all many intimate details. First off to answer the replys posted. They are most definately a degree mill.Degree's are issued all the time with no actual student work done. They hold a "graduation" about once a month.I have attended these graduations with "students"
from Japan and China. They are a total circus always held at hotel in Waikiki. The president Dr.Yamada also goes to Japan about once a month to hold these "graduations" I use this word very lightly!
The so called accrediting agency in Germany. is nothing more than a mebership group. You pay them a membership fee and you are accredited!Take a look at their web site and you will understand.I think they also claim that they are UN NGO's.They are not.I have been an NGO for three years. They are nowhere in the UN.

A little background on the so called location of the school.Three small offices at the Interstate Building on S.King St. in Honolulu. They do have a lovley library though!Five shelves with about a hundred or so disertations from before Yamada took over as President. Some of the ones that I read were so bad I could not help to feel sorry for the author. One was only 17 pages long. They also share self space with some Stephen King paperbacks and cook books!

Most of the faculty advisors that we contacted dont even know that they are advisors. The schools secertary is on the Board of Directors, so is the schools accountant, the priest at Yamada's temple and I beilive one dead person!

Well the next chapter in this saga will contain connections to Central Pacific Univ.,Golden State Univ. and HU's partners overseas.
    Until next time.......

I am curious about the credentials of the "dead person." Were his/her degrees legitimate? It really wouldn't speak well of HU if the "dead person" had degree mill credentials. [IMG]
