I too am searching for a DL doctorate and am new to the forum. I am soaking up as much as I can. Thanks to everyone.

What is the scoop on Robert Kennedy University (www.college.ch/) in Switzerland?
They are accredited by the European Council for Business Education. Is this a legit. orgainzation? DBA costs $7000.
    Thanks.

If you search for messages on Robert Kennedy University you will find they have the reputation of a degree mill including bogus accreditation. Best of luck.

    For Rich Douglas (or anyone):

Mr. Douglas, I read that you are a retired Air Force officer. Perhaps you can help me, as I am a reserve AF officer. Will the AF accept a graduate degree from a DETC accredited DL program? Will they accept a degree from foreign schools such as Charles Sturt?

    Rob,

I am not as much in the know as Rich because he was not only Air Force but an Education Officer. However, when I as in the army they did accept foreign degrees (my Canadian B.A.). I was enlisted at the time and using it for promotion points. I was required to get a recognized foreign credential evaluator to say it was okay.

So, they should take foreign degrees as long as they are legit and I believe they take DETC. What fields are you intersted in.

If you were National Guard I might recommend you check out http://www.ncu.edu
Northcentral University is a candidate for accreditation and has been discussed a lot here. They seem to be approved with DANTES for National Guard (army) and CoastGuard (?) tuition assistance. They are completely on line and have Ph.D.'s in business and Psychology (non licensure). The cost is very reasonable.

Your CSU is probably a good idea as well in terms of cost and there are a couple of people doing Aussie degrees here.

    Best of luck!

Regarding DETC, it would appear so. DANTES publishes a guide of nontraditional colleges and universities that has a whole section on DETC-accredited schools. These schools are approved for tuition assistance. But for a definitive answer, contact AFIT/RRA (Air Force Institute of Technology, Registrar's Office at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH). They're the one's who determine what is and is not acceptable for entry onto an officer's record.

The same is true for foreign degrees. There are specific provisions for such. Again, AFIT is the clearinghouse for these decisions; contact them.

Sorry I couldn't be more specific, but at least I've referred you to the people who can be. And don't take the advice of your base education office; those nimrods tend to get the unusual wrong. Go to the source: AFIT.

Amen brother Rich! I can say that almost certainly with a little research & help from this forum you will be at least as if not almost certainly more informed. My experience was that the post education office was good for dealing with entities that offered their degrees on post through satellite campuses. They processed the funding paperwork well. They were not necessarily the most informed about options (especially DL).

I am currently working on an MS in Criminal Justice with Andrew Jackson University (DETC). I am in the USAFR not the Guard, and work as an LEO on the civ. side. The Montgomery GI Bill is helping with tuition. As I understand it, TA is only available for active duty. Do you know if MGIB will pay for foreign degrees? I am keeping an eye on Northcentral as well.
    Thanks for the info!

Again, go to the source. The VA will be able to answer your question.

The short answer is: maybe. See http://www.gibill.va.gov/education/OS_Trng.htm

You will find a statement that the VA must approve the program (not school) prior to your enrollment. They also have a list of links to previously approved programs in foreign schools.

Most of the DL programs from foreign schools we talk about are not listed. But that could mean that the VA hasn't had a request for approval by a student wishing to attend. But I do see Berne University's Ph.D. programs in Psychology and Social Work. Sigh.
