I am looking for some help on ICDL (International Center for Distance Learning). Does anyone know of their affiliation with the UK Open University. I found a link of http://www-icdl.open.ac.uk but it was not available. My take on ICDL is that it is just a clearing house for DL links and research org for distance education. As far as I can tell they do not offer any degrees of their own. Any other comments or thoughts. Thanks, John
You're correct--it's an OU-sponsored international distance learning database (with a very flaky server, so it goes down more than [insert celebrity joke here]). Cheers, ------------------ Tom Head www.tomhead.net co-author, Bears' Guide to the Best Education Degrees by Distance Learning (Ten Speed Press) co-author, Get Your IT Degree and Get Ahead (Osborne/McGraw-Hill)
Careful, ICDL is also (mainly ?) the International Computer Driving Licence as promoted by a European foundation and professionally in the UK by the BCS (British Computer Society) a professional accreditor of computer courses. Regards, Neil Hynd (who is a Member of the BCS and as such a Chartered Information Systems Engineer !)
Thanks Tom. Several attempts to get to the database failed failed so I agree that the server is flaky. John
