PMP Certification Course/s

A friend has asked me to ask the group if anyone is aware of any institution or anywhere (Brain Bench etc) that offers PMP Certification online. He is aware of the PMP organization. However, he want's to know if he has other options.

Project Management

Aspen University offers a Certificate in Project Management which prepares you for the Project Management Institute certifications Certified Associate in Project Management and Project Management Professional.

The current discounted cost of the Aspen University certificate is USD4200.00 plus textbooks (USD250.00 per course, approximately).

 

I'm not sure which question you are asking, so I'll answer the 3 questions that I thought about when I read your post.

If the question is "Where can your friend take a PMP Prep course to qualify for the 'contact hours' online", then have them check out this website:

• There is an option that is $199 and provides an online course that walks through the necessary knowledge and gives the user the necessary 35 'contact hours' to qualify for the PMP Exam.
• I used this program to get my 35 'contact hours' to qualify for the PMP exam.

If the question is "Where can your friend take courses about Project Management to learn more about it (and earn the 'contact hours as well)", then check out the following:

If the question is "Can your friend obtain the PMP certification from any group other than PMI", the answer is No.

• PMI (http://www.pmi.org) is the only group that provides the PMP certification. CompTIA (http://www.comptia.org) does offer a Project+ certification that is similar, but doesn't carry the same weight in industry as the PMP certification does.

 

Allow me to correct myself. The project management certificate at Aspen University is USD2500.00 including the textbooks. The price I quoted earlier is for a masters degree.

For what it's worth, the PMP is worth 9 transfer credits towards an MBA at Aspen.

Good to know IMO.

 

Only Project Management Institute (PMI) offers the PMP certification.

IPMA offers a 4 level project management credential. OGC offers certifications in Prince2, which is a project management methodology widely used in the UK and Europe

CompTIA offers Project+ and PMI itself offers CAPM certifications which are minly aimed at people with less project management experience.
