Excelsior Exam "World Population?"

I registered for the exam and ordered the books.
Does Excelsior send you a syllabus, study plan or practice test covering the material you need to know for the exam or are you supposed to just read everything in all the books on their list and hope for the best?

One of the books Excelsior requires was $118 new through their book store and over 700 pages long. I found what appears to be the same book used for $25 through an Amazon reseller. I'm waiting for shipment.

 

I would reccomend the Book World population by John L Weeks.
It contains great end of chapter reviews after each chapter. Review these well and passing the exam with an A is very possible. I would also recommend reviewing India and China on the CIA world facts web site. Good Luck on your exam!

 

I took World Population in 2002. I remember having a study guide, and Excelsior must have sent it because it was on 3-hole paper and it was more pages than the printer I had at the time could handle.

Two weeks of part-time study and I got an A (and finished my bachelor's degree). I didn't study from anything but the Weeks book, though they may have changed their required books list. Know China, know India, know technical terms like "rule of 69" and fertility rate stuff (the different kinds of rates, the 2.1 child replacement rate, etc). It was a pretty straightforward exam, and at least in my case, following the study guide led me to a good grade.

 

Does anybody have an update? I'm almost done with that book, but don't feel enlightened at all.

How difficult of an exam it is on a scale of 1-10?

How is this exam scored? I took the ECE quiz and got 19/24, which is 79%. I know the rule of thumb for an A is 77%, can somebody be more specific, please?

It looks like a 'C' is about 53% and an A is 79-81% depending on the form of the exam taken.
