My unofficial evaluation from Excelsior states that I need to take 18 hours lower level in any area. If I am transferring in nearly 100 hours, all from a state university, will they allow me to take community college courses to complete the degree requirements? I am interested in a few from Clovis. Thanks!

Yes, but you can also earn the same credits via clep or dantes too.

As Brian stated, lower-level credits can come from any acceptable source...CLEP, DANTES, or other exams, community college courses, portfolio evaluation, etc.

If all 18 hours can be lower level in any area, use FEMA credits! It will cost you $380 to establish a TESC credit bank but all FEMA credits are free. Then transfer the credits from the TESC bank to Excelsior. You could easily do all 18 credits in less than a week.

You know, I have read on here about FEMA credits, but it just seems too good to be true! Are there no cautions at all? I can just choose any that seem easy, or do I take them in a certain order? Excelsior has no problems with any of them? For any degree plan? My degree will be in Sociology. I would have no trouble setting up the credit bank with TESC even if I don't plan to take courses with them? Are the FEMA courses finished completely online? Thanks for any help, guys.

I forget, can FEMA credits go towards any LL area or just applied professional?

They are applied professional credits. But if I understand Wilder corectly, he needs 18 hours in any lower level area. If that's the case, applied science courses will work.

No, TESC has no issue with establishing a credit bank and not taking courses with them. I have a TESC credit bank and have booked about 35 FEMA credits. Excelsior will take the credits as long as they come via TESC. There are numerous threads about this you can read. Michael Gates is the supreme authority on it. The FEMA courses do not have to be taken in any particular order. Yes, they are all done completely online. A few require a CDROM but you can skip those. Remember, you only need 18! The following is a list of course numbers that are accepted at Excelsior:

    EDM 102 - IS002
