Ok so I went ahead and sent my transcripts to Park University (www.park.edu). I figured it was the easiest choice to make considering that I could get an entire degree online. My question is can I get a Masters in Public Speaking with a BA in business? Or do I have to get a BA in Public Speaking in order to even apply to a school to get the masters?
Airman Keyboard Ninja, Well, Business degree is almost relate to Public Speaking. It is always possible to go to different fields for graduated school. It also depends on the institution's curriculum, such as some prerequisite. I never heard any school offer Master in Public Speaking. I only heard Master of Science/Arts in Public Communication, Public Relation, RHistoric Communication, Speech Communication; or MBA in some type of specialization. I have a question, if you don't mind. Why you joined the service too late? Also, I thought the Air force Officer Program is very competitive. I left active duty in August 2006; and asked one of the Air force Recruiter about Air force Officer option, and they told me it is hard to get in also they need only certain fields. I don't know how you deal with all your seniors; who are younger than you. I used to yell at some of Private, PFC, and Lance Corporal; who were much older than me. It made me feel uncomfortable. It was always something I wanted to do, but I was always too chicken to do it. I had great jobs in sales and it was always enough for me to buy anything I could ever want. Somehow it just didn't seem like enough. The training I get in the military is much different than anything I could have ever get from college/civilian life. If I stayed doing what I was doing then I would be destined to run a business and deal with that aspect of life. It is definately not something I was looking foward into doing. I guess my only other reason was that I felt like I had to at least contribute my 4 years into the service. I think that was probably the most important reason of all. I'm no full-blooded patriot by any means. As far as age goes, why does talking to someone a few years older than you bother you? I don't think it should. Rank and your experience in your shop matters more than your age. Oh, and about the masters in public speaking..that isn't necessarily the degree I want to pursue. I just wanted to really know if your BA dictated what Masters program were available to you. I'm thinking about getting a masters at AMU after I finish my BA in Science (Management) @ Park University. Oh yeah..about the officer thing. If it happens it happens. If not at least I can say I finally joined the military!
As a current student at AMU/APU I have found the instructors to be both knowledgable in the subject matter and interested in the students.
Yes, all courses are delivered via the Internet in synchronous mode. With the exception of some courses, the final exams, if applicable, are non-proctored either online and take home (offline) format. Even the courses needing a proctor for the mid-term and/or final exam are flexible within reason in terms of who can proctor - librarian, supervisor/manager, human resources, etc.
