Just an interesting side note for the degree minded. I was testing out a new DVD player on my computer and loaded the SF movie Stargate. There is that early scene where Dr. Jackson walks through the pouring rain and gets into the limo with the elderly lady. She has a dosier on Dr. Jackson and had been looking through it.

The diploma in this scene caught my eye so I did a freeze frame and magnify. It was a University of California diploma but it was blank and hence no "Dr. Jackson". I wondered if the prop department printed it up or did they get a blank diploma from one of these diploma replacement services?

The Internet Movie Database has never been mentioned here, that I can recall, but they have a page for each movie solely for the purpose of keeping track of such things.

The 'goofs' page for Stargate is here, and new reports can be submitted at the bottom of the page for verification and subsequent inclusion in the listing.

Hollywood usually makes their own props. I collect police memorabilia, and a small amount of stuff I have is discarded movie & TV props (badges, patches, police paperwork). You used to be able to get the stuff at bargain prices, but it now usually commands a fortune on E-Bay. I wouldn't be surprised if Dr. Jackson's generic diploma has already been auctioned off. I just hope whoever bought it doesn't fill in their own name and list it on a resume.

Jack Webb was famous for his realism, and used real Los Angeles Police equipment whenever possible on "Adam-12" and "Dragnet". The LAPD even had a full-time advisor to both shows whose main job was to guard the badges used in the show. They were real LAPD badges, and the advisor took possession of them whenever they weren't actually being used (even lunch breaks).

Too late, Bruce. I've already obtained it, and had begun listing it on my CV. A guy can't get by with anything around this forum. [IMG]
