Looks like a duck, smells like a duck...are my senses out of whack or should I trust them?

There seem to be at least two of these quackers --

    http://www.americanuniversity.org.uk/

    and

    http://www.aul.edu

    And guess what?

    They're both ducks!
If you trust them, then it might your judgement that's out of whack.

    :D

Here's the British House of Lords asking some pointed questions about your two ducks and about the rest of their feathered mates (scroll down towards the bottom)

    http://www.publications.parliament.uk/pa/ld200304/ldhansrd/vo040617/text/40617-03.htm

    It begins....
And on from there, the gist being that there's not much that the regulators can do about "selling dodgy degree diplomas" in Britain and that the DfES' new list of recognized British degree granting institutions should address the problem. (Proving Lord Quirk absolutely right in his pass-the-parcel remarks.)

And here's a Canadian news story featuring one of the ducks, entitled "College Linked to 'Worthless' American Degrees"

Not all of the American Universities in London are ducks though. Here's a fully legitimate one:

Richmond - The American University in London.

This one is accredited by the Middle States Association (an American regional accreditor) and has some kind of relationship with Britain's Open University. It doesn't offer any DL that I know of, though.

    This one calls itself

Huron University - The American University in London.

It says that it's accredited by the New England Association, another regional accreditor. (I didn't verify it.)

    http://www.huron.ac.uk/home/

And lots of US-based universities operate study centers in London, giving their students study-abroad opportunities. (London must be crawling with American students.)

    I figured...

I guess after awhile the fake schools seem to have fake looking websites. I figured this wasn't for real.

    Thanks...

One e-mail sent. Doubt it will make a difference. Its a good ole boys club in many universities. Especially the administrative ranks. They will just remove the listing or place the employee elsewhere.
