Wow! I couldn't believe that Troy University is leading number two (#2) in distance learning. The University of Phoenix is leading number one because their marketing solutions like telemarketing. I believe they will ship their recruitment office to India likes those Telephone and Credit Cards companies. I don't think Troy University call you everyday and beg you to apply to their school likes University of Phoenix; besides, they are public institution. GO TROJANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "School Students enrolled University of Phoenix (AZ) 187,712 Troy University (AL) 77,845 Cape Fear Community College (NC) 45,000 University of Maryland--University College (MD) 40,009 Excelsior College (NY) 26,845 Indiana Wesleyan University (IN) 22,950 Central Texas College (TX) 22,723 Walden University (MN) 22,168 University of Florida (FL) 18,056 Baker College of Flint (MI) 17,633 Baker College--Auburn Hills (MI) 17,633 Baker College--Cadillac (MI) 17,633 Baker College--Clinton Township (MI) 17,633 Baker College--Jackson (MI) 17,633 Baker College--Muskegon (MI) 17,633 Baker College--Owosso (MI) 17,633 Baker College--Port Huron (MI) 17,633 Coastline Community College (CA) 16,755 Community College of Southern Nevada (NV) 14,098 Pennsylvania State University--University Park (PA) 13,928" Source URL: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/elearning/lists/size_lrg_list.htm Sound Off!!!!!!
Remember, these are self-reported numbers of students in programs. The invalidity of this data is clearly proven by the entry for Cape Fear Community College which now reports fewer than 4000 students in their online classes and doesn't report DL degree program enrollment. It's like "yay! we're number 1 because we said so!" not buying it - but interesting none-the-less.
I agree with you on that one. I couldn't believe that http://www.uopsucks.com/ doesn't hurt University of Phoenix.
Question of the Day... What is the correlation between student enrollments and program quality in distance learning programs? In response, I would hypothesize that unless a program is really-really-really well organized, more students is not a good thing. I know nothing of the programs mentioned... (I am not throwing darts at UOP or any other school on the list... they all may be well-organized for all I know... I just know that more is not necessarily better... Bigger means more cumbersome... more likely that people will be treated as a number and fall through the cracks... Not true in every case of course... These programs will have to be exceptionally managed to handle the large number of students to the degree that flags can be waived on their behalf... Respectfully,
now reports fewer than 4000 students in their online classes? doesn't report DL degree program enrollment? Hmm.
You can't seriously believe that a board composed of a bunch of malcontents could really hurt an accredited university's rep.
