    Hi,

I have been trying to find a distance learning Surgical Technology Certificate Program. I live in a rural area, have a family, and a full-time job. So, distance learning is a match for me.

I do not have any prior college education. I went through a police academy a long time ago.

I am looking for a Surgical Technology Certificate Program, right now. I would just like to get into the profession. I am not ruling out an Associate of Applied Science Degree, but I would prefer a just a Certificate Program at this point in time.

I would need to be able to complete my clinical requirements at one of the area hospitals close to me (Colorado.) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hello BWD. This website has a listing of online certificate programs hosted by community colleges in Colorado.

    http://www.ccconline.org/courses/

Check with these organizations to better identify opportunities in your area.

    Association of Surgical Technology (AST)
    www.ast.org

Accreditation Review Committee on Education in Surgical Technology (ARC-ST)
    www.arcst.org

Have you been in the Operating room before??? You may not like it. Blood, guts, stinky pus, long hours standing in one position, demanding surgeons....not for everyone!

    Good Luck!

    Hi,

Thank you raristud2 and Delta. Your help is greatly apprciated!

raristud2, I have looked at those three sites. The www.ccconline.org is a nice site, just no programs for my interest. Both the www.ast.org and www.arcst.org, are full of information, but nothing as far as distance learning, that I can find.

Delta, Meridian looks very interesting, just not a lot of information on their site. I will contact them next week and find out more. I have not been in an operating room, except during my own surgical repairs. I have been in law enforcement for over 15 years. I think it is time to do something to help in the treatment rather than dealing with the deaths. So, blood, guts, etc. are nothing new to me.

Thank you both again for your posts! I will continue to look. Any help, it is greatly appreciated!
