When applying for an online adjunct position should I list the other schools I am currently teaching for? I don't what to give the impression I would not be able to dedicate time to the new school I am applting to.

    What are some thoughts?

    In my opinion, absolutely yes.

I think you have to show that you have the experience and recent experience at that.

The way I present it is "online courses taught recently". I've never had that work against me to my knowledge. Between the two choices of listing current employers and listing no relevant experience, list the current ones, but avoid any wording that makes it look like you are completely overloaded.

You can also list in your cover letter why you are looking to change colleges to their (without disparaging the current one)

It can be things like delivery format, sychronous portions, courses offered, etc.

I would say yes, also. One of the most desireable things I see for online adjunct positions is previous online teaching experience.

It's one of those Catch-22 things.....almost everyone wants prior experience, while few want to hire someone without the experience.

I would also say yes. The more experience in teaching the better. However, you may want to use caution. If the school you are applying to thinks your workload (between your fulltime job and your other adjunct positions) is too much, they may be reluctant to hire you for fear of you not having the time to devote to their students.

Combine my corporate job, teaching jobs, and two graduate programs I am in, they may feel I am overloaded. I guess I should play it down. Maybe I will not list the UF graduate certificate program since it would not be relevant.

I can't believe you actually have time for more. You are already loaded. Unless you have some sort of time machine where you can squeeze more hours in a week than possible or you have a clone to cover down for you. :D

I know there's a saying that if you want something done ask a busy person, but you may be taking that a step or two too far!

I think experience is a good thing. I'd be inclined to list them, but I do understand your concern about a potential school feeling that you're overloaded already.

It does help you to liist all your relevant teaching experience for adjunct positions. Some online schools want instructors who have been trained by certain other schools for competitive reasons.

It doesn't hurt you to list nearly all the schools at which you teach because those who hire understand that adjuncts are available on a first come first serve basis. In other words, if they wanted more than a tentative commitment to teach, they would be hiring a full time instructor.
