Accounting vs Finance

I have been considering doctoral programs for quite a while now. I have worked in accounting as a Controller during my career and currently teach accounting as an adjunct at a local ACICS accredited college. I hold a Master of Arts in Management.

I like Argosy's DBA with a specialty in Accounting but it seems rather pricey. I've taken a look at Northcentral's DBA with a specialization in Finance and it looks good as well and quite a bit less expensive. My question is, would the DBA in Finance offer me the same opportunities to continue teaching Accounting in a RA school, particularly at a local community college or other smaller college? Most RA schools want the 18 hours in the subject being taught and I'm not sure that Finance would be considered the same as Accounting for those purposes.

    Thanks,

The Finance degree would work to teach accounting only if you accumulated 18 graduate hours in accounting. While there is some overlap at the undergraduate level, that is NOT the case for graduate courses.

Don't you have 18 credits in accounting already if you currently teach it? What not earn 18 credits in something else like finance?
