Someone please tell me about Instacert. How well does it work? I have read reviews saying that it does not prepare you for the tests very well, and other reviews saying that it is the bomb.

 

First off, this B.A. guy is just spamming. He started his own thread yesterday, after registering just to post this, then bumped a 6 year old thread to say the same thing for his second post.

I don't know about "testes," but for the tests all they have is flashcards. Some people like them, I didn't.

 

I liked Instantcert. I used it and REA books together to pass all of my CLEP's. This was on the older version of CLEP's though so I'm not sure how useful they are now.

I am a member of instancert. I just signed up 1 or 2 months ago and already passed 4 cleps! 2 of them with scores only in the 50s, but thats enough for the big 3 to get credit.
I think the site itself is worth the 20bucks if you are intested in taking cleps and dsst. which school are you attending? are you taking cleps? have you taken any FEMAs so far?

I have been a member on the "other" forum for quite a few years, we have many members here that visit both. You don't have to pay any money or use "IC" to use the other forum. I am beyond any point where "IC" can be of use to me.

 

Thanks! I am using IC right now, and the site has helped me A LOT, no, the site was the reason how I passed my first CLEPS and DSSTs. Be aware tho that the flashcards will let you pass, but not with a GREAT score. You will need to do some googling besides the cards if you want to score high enough that schools will look at the score and think of it as an "A". That is because CLEPs and DSSTs are pass/fail. No letter grades will show on a transcript unless the school decides so. And if you daughter wants to go to graduate school afterwards, they WILL ask her to send the transcripts in DIRECTLY from the ACE so they can look at the scores. And they will know what they are looking at right away.

So here is where IC comes in REALLY handy. Besides the flashcards that help you pass the test, the forum has an IC members only area, in which the members give you TEST SPECIFIC feedback. After I discovered this area I was able to score way better.

ACE has nothing do with the CLEP or DSST.

 

In fact, the CLEP and DSST programs are both ACE CREDIT providers.

 

You are correct, I should have been more specific in that I was talking about the transcripts. If you are already enrolled at a school the results will be sent to the institution of your choice for the price of taking the exam, directly from College Board or Prometric. If not, they are maintained on a transcript by the companies. Feel free to involve ACE if you like, but it isn't necessarily the cheapest route. Since the source providers maintain the transcript, in a format that is usually accepted easier than an ACE transcript, it is up to the user.
