Sounds great, wish you were accredited....by someone.

They've been around a couple years, and have practical classes in SWAT/military operations like taking down a plane, oil rig, etc. Odd that their online studies do not even have the DETC approval yet.

    A blurb from their site:

The International Institute for Counterterrorism Studies offers a specialized and focused Bachelor's and Master's Degree programs for adult students. IICTS students study the most current and relevant curriculum available in counterterrorism, homeland security, law enforcement and national security, including the foundation courses of English, Mathematics, Psychology and other courses designed to meet the needs of the 21st century student and give our students a challenging, well rounded and respected education.

According to their website, IICTS is pursuing RA in accordance with the conditions of their state license:

    hmm

I wonder what order schools follow in their quest for accreditation? Is it easier to be approved for an RA or NA after acquiring a DETC?

    This statement kinda scares me.

    From their webpage:

"Life Experience Associate Degree - Only 300 Slots Available - Click Here for more information!! Only $3750"

    Hmm.

I saw that, those 300 slots are only for LEOs or military only. The other things that scare me are the flat fees for the degrees complete with PayPal buttons. I hate the fact that Knight'sbridge links to them too.

Well I hope they get their RA, the degree and certificates sound very unique and exciting to me.

    Re: Hmm.

If I remember correctly, AMU offers a certificate programme recognized by the United Nations. This appears very similar to the certificate programme offered at International Institute for Counterterrorism Studies . Consequently, it would behove potential students to confirm with the UN whether IICS is an approved educational provider.

    Re: hmm

The Distance Education and Training Council (DETC) IS a national accreditor (NA). No, being NA does not automatically make it easier to become RA, or regionally accreditted. In fact, few DETC schools have gone on to become RA. APUS/AMU and Western Governors University are the only two that immediately come to mind, although there may be others. Northcentral University may also fall into that catagory.

And how does/will NCU fall into that category? NCU has achieved RA with NCA, but has never to my knowledge been accredited by DETC or any other NA agency.

That's why I said MAY. I wasn't sure if they had been NA at one point.
