You might check out Jimmy Clifton's blog of his experience as a student in the MS program in Psychology at CCU over at degreediscussion.com.

I agree, Jimmy has alot of discussion of his current CCU experience on the degreediscussion site.

I am 1 of the 6 featured alumni on CCU's website and I would be happy to converse some if you would like to send me a message.

As you can read from te Calcoast featured alumni page and my comments, it has fully met my needs, both personally and professionally as well.

    Great school with wonderful people.

    Blah it's me again...

I finally received information on CCU and I am very pleased with the school.
I am still torn between Peru.edu, and www.calcoast.edu, they are both the same price, but Peru is RA and CCU is DETC.

Does anyone know where I can find more information about CCU graduates being able to get any type of licensing from licensing organizations?
Does any CCU graduate exist here??

According to the California Psychology Board, a total of 6 CCU graduates were licensed in California between July 2003 and June 2006. This is obviously not a very high number, but it is not zero either.

The EPPP exam statistics for 2003, 2004, and 2005 show that 24 EPPP exams were administered to CCU grads, with 7 passing results. Again, not a particularly high success rate, but not zero either.

I have been accepted to the M.Ed. program and will be enrolling this week. I just hope that I'm not taking on too much right now but firmly believe that I CAN and I WILL do it once again!!

how is it possible to figure out the states I want (MASS, and NY) would accept me to get licensed from CCU

    Hi euphoric,

CCU's degrees are not designed to meet any state's license requirements. Your best option is to check with the state's licensing agencies where you would want to practice.

On an expanded note, most states oversee their own licentiature requirements. Regardless of what institution you attend, the degree you obtain may or may not meet that particular state regulatory guidelines.

What this means to you is that a degree (not a license) obtained from CCU or Peru may or may not fulfill the requirements of a specific state.

Again, you will be best served by checking with the state where you want to practice.

Psychology licensing is not my area of expertise, but I took a casual glance at the Massachusetts Board website. It appears that their education requirements include the following:
So then I checked the list of approved California programs at the ASPPB website. Didn't find CCU on there. So my impression is that CCU degrees may not acceptable for licensure in Massachusetts.

But as I said, this is not my area of expertise, and I may have overlooked something. You should check it out for yourself, by contacting the licensing boards in the states of interest.

This is an interesting discussion. CCU seems to be a good balance as far as price and education received. I am, too, considering CCU to pursue a Psych. degree.

CalDog, the statistics mentioned are intriguing. Would you (or anyone else for that matter) happen to know whether the six CCU graduates who were licensed, are recognized as psychologists in the state of CA?

I seem to agree with Mundo that CCU's intent is not for students to use their degree as a means to pursue licensure. However, if some students have been able to obtain their license, then that is also good to know. It could be an option to consider.

It is possible to obtain a Bachelor's with CCU, and pursue a Master or high degree with another school that is recognized by the State. I guess it comes down to whether the school would accept CCU's degree.

I would assume so, since the whole point of state licensure is to get legal recognition for your occupational status.

What are the chances of CCU becoming RA? What does postsecondary institution mean?

I do not understand how our government works, why not make all schools RA?

Bare with me, I am a new with this stuff...(and I am also on dial-up, which does not make searching online easy)

Random .. I asked them about their doctor programs, and they said that they are working on offering them again.
