Some of the online universities require proctored tests to be undertaken. A proctor would have to be a professionally qualified person who has total disinterest in the outcome of your exam and is not a friend or a relative or a co-worker.

Now I dont know when I would be moving to other places as I keep changing jobs from time to time. Who is the best person to select as a proctor. Can you guys advice.

Most schools allow for Dr's/Lawyers/Engineers and Accountants. However some are flexible enough to allow for local librarians.

When I worked in the government, we would allow people to come in for exams during the day and we'd stick them in a private room (town hall bonus!). Also consider a clergy member, some of the colleges have a special needs testing centre (they will do external testing too, for a fee!).

    vinodgopal,

You might ask a Human Resources officer at your current workplace if he or she would proctor your test. The off-campus tests I took were proctored at either the local library (I asked the head librarian) or a nearby junior college. Some colleges will accept a clergyman - priest, what have you.

    Good luck,

In my case I was able to find a college principal who was willing to be a proctor and acceptable to the American university through which I was doing my final course for my BA.

    Interesting!

Mark, You have stated you are a Urmila Matondkar fan- What is your association with Indian sub-continent? Cuz you seem to know a bit on hindi movies.

Anyways, Human resources officer is not accepted by the university.

    My students have used:

    British Counsulate
    Headmaster of private school
    College/University Registrar

    I would also sugest:

Member of Clery (minister, priest, rabbi)
    Testing Center
    Post office or town hall
    Public school headmaster/principal

    Good Luck!

    Re: Interesting!

    vinodgopal,

I was introduced to Bollywood movies by a friend at work (who runs the Web site I linked to in my last post). I watch very little television and almost no movies, but the formula in contemporary Indian movies - the drama (mixed often with comedy) and all the color, motion, and music - hooked me.

I first saw Urmila in Mast - what's not to like! I turned my wife onto the genre through Main Hoon Na (and now I check for films choreographed by Farah Khan). She loved Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, too. She's not a strict Shah Rukh Kahn fan, though - he nearly turned her off with Anjaam! Swades was very well filmed and the music is top-notch but I wonder if that and Main Hoon Na bordered on seeming excessively moralizing to some.

We have a nearly deaf daughter so Black (Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee) hit home. I was surprised that American Sign Language and not British was used in the film and I assume in India.

Amrish Puri was one of the greatest actors ever alive, and I, too, have said "Mogambo kush hua" when something goes my way.

I've been interested in astronomy since childhood and had naturally heard of Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. Later I read some biographies about Chandra and I was dismayed at the extent of discrimination he experienced.

Finally, the cuisine I've tried is superb - meat or vegetarian, mild or hot!

No family or business interests in India, just an appreciation of some of its people and products.

Possibilities for exam proctors? Librarians, teachers, clergypersons, lawyers, Kaplan testing centers, Sylvan testing centers.

    Hi vinodgopal,

When I needed a proctor, I went to a local college -- they had a testing center for classes at the school. They did all kinds of testing. The fee was nominal.

Don't know if the same opportunity exists for you.

    Good luck.
