I just saw that AMU is now regionally accredited so I am seriously considering them. I just joined the Marine Corps a few days ago and I ship to boot camp in February.

I have to admit that I was not a good student in high school. I was wondering what the exams at AMU are like, do you take them online at your own pace or how do they work?

Does AMU require participation on a daily basis? I'm going infantry and will most likely be in the field during each week so my only time to really "go to" any classes online would be on the weekends.

Any information would greatly be appreciated.
    Thank you

AMU is extremely flexible. You need to show up to class once a week, generally do some online participation and do your assignments. Every class differs for exams but most have been fairly easy. Some are proctored some are not. Finding a proctor is very easy through AMU, your direct supervisor can even be your proctor.

AMU is a great choice and I don't regret going with them at all.

AMU is very military friendly and have recently implemented special policies to assist those students on extended periods of deployment. As could be expected the student population is heavily weighted towards military members. Undergrduate degree course tuition includes textbooks at no additional cost.

I have completed 7 courses with AMU and am currently taking 3 courses. The exams vary between courses, with some courses replacing the final exam with a course project/essay. The exam(s) can be online or paper-based depending on the course; some exams require a proctor while other courses have no proctor requirement.

Just out of curiousity, what are the term paper/essay requirements on average per class? In other words, are AMU's classes more Q&A driven? Or are they more essay/project driven?

Strictly based on the courses I have taken, not including the mathematics courses, the AMU/APU courses are essay-based although there might be specific questions that must be answered as part of the essay. To date, the only course whch has a project is the Creative Writing (EN120). The discussion boards within the courses require students to respond to specific questions or topics (original posting plus replies to other student postings); some course do not use the discussion board feature.

As an aside, every student enrolled in a degree at AMU/APU must complete RQ195 (I think that is the course designator) which covers career planning, academic planning, and grammar and writing skills.

Let me also add that some courses with mid-term and/or final exam use the multiple choice and fill in the blank format primarily. Other course use the essay format, but these are take home exams so you are not timed per se.
