    Hi All,

I know that most Phd's would require a short residency requirement. I wish to know if there are Phd's that are offered through online alone in entirity. If so are they accredited? Also I wish to know if an Mphil obtained through correspondance and distance format is acceptable for a Phd through distance education.

    Thanks in advance,

    Vinod Gopal

Touro University International www.tourou.edu and Northcentral University www.ncu.edu offer their PhDs entirely online and, yes, they are accredited. I wouldn't see why a distance MPhil would be a problem.

M.Phils are normally the requirement for admission into a UK or Australian PhD but in the USA you might need to make up for the lack of course work at your master level.

I would think that it would give you admission but I also would think that make up course work would be required.

    Vinod,

Namaste! It would help us if we knew what discipline you wished to study. There are a few other decent American institutions that might apply, but they only offer certain subjects.

Also, out of curiosity, if you're in India, did you consider Indira Gandhi National Open University and if so why did it not interest you?

    Regards,

Check out NCU - no residency requirement and they are fully accredited.
