TESC requires that a practicum be done in order order to complete so degrees such as the Bachelor of Science in Human Services (Emergency Disaster Services). Little is posted on their website about it. Before I risk sending them the money required to get a practicum plan approved, I would like to hear the good and bad others have experienced in the process.

Does the practicum have to be new work or can past work be counted?

What will they not allowed to be counted as part of the work experience?

What work experience have you used for a practicum in Emergency Disaster Services?

Michael - Did you ever learn additional information about the Advanced Practicum since your 2006 post that went unanswered?

I too am thinking about TESC and have the same question left unresolved?

I applied and kept being told that I was not in emergency management and could not get approved to be in the program and complete the Practicum. I am connected to four agencies that are involved in emergency work. Since they were too stupid to put me in contact with anyone that knew what they were talking about, I found my time better spent elsewhere.

The person in charge of approving the Practicum didn't seem to know anything about emergency work and did not seem to want to know anything about emergency work. She seemed to think her job was to keep people out of the program. When asked to show things I had done that proved I was in emergency management I mentioned the Incident Command System and was told that didn't have anything to do with emergency management.

I gave up on the and went and finished my degree at Excelsior. Other than the credit bank account, I have found TESC useless in all my contacts.

Has anyone here successfully entered and completed the Advanced Practicum at TESC?
