I took a few courses on Saturday and have yet to get the typical email response. It normally takes anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, but 3 or 4 days??? So I took them again earlier this evening thinking the system may have been down over the weekend and the exams I submitted were lost somewhere in cyber space...still nothing. I keep checking the SPAM folder in my email just in case my email provider started to dislike the FEMA/EMI address...nothing. Is/Has anyone else having these issues? Pug
I know that FEMA and the US Fire Administration often work together on courses. I know that the US Fire Administration began on October 1st moving courses to a new server. This may or may not be part of the problem.
(Tapping fingers impatiently on the table)...it's no been a week and still no response from FEMA. Has anyone else taken any FEMA exams this week? Pug
You should give them a call Pug. I'm sure there's a good explanation. I have to admit though, something does seem strange because they've suddenly stopped all paper certificates, and now offer instant PDF certificate creation. Seems like they may be pulling back for some reason... I just hope that reason isn't because they're folding. I still haven't finished all of the courses yet!
Me either. I have only completed 10, but have not received confirmation on 2 of those 10. I sure hope they are not folding. I'm really counting on about 20 of those credits. I'd call them but I didn't see a number. I emailed them a week ago but have not gotten a response. Pug
I seriously doubt that there is anything to worry about. Folding does not seem to be likely since they have already placed many new courses online in the last few months. The current situation is about expanding. New servers and new ways of delivering certifcates. Most free online courses that are similar to FEMA courses have already went to pdf generated certificates on the Internet. The pdf generated certificates are about saving money on people, paper, and postage to produce and deliver the certificates. Imagine the government trying to cut waste and save money. As with all new systems there is probably a few bugs and FEMA is busy taking care of the bugs in the new certifcate system and will get back to people with problems in time. They have probably had quite a few people contacting them.
Yeah, that's why when I thought about that at first, it sounded so funny to me, lol. I thought the Gov't was hell bent on screwing up--and around--and blowing our money in the process? lol. On another note, do you know where I can find all of the course matchings (with credit award totals) for the TESC emergency management degrees? I've looked for it on the TESC site but I haven't been able to find it (or I just don't know what I'm doing).
I have a list of FEMA courses that have been accepted, and their corresponding EDM course numbers. Each worth 1 credit.
That's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm curious to see how the new courses match up to the EDM's. If you have the list, please post. ... I think at least one of those courses is worth 2 credits... at least that's what I read somewhere.

Can't the FEMA courses also be used as the concentration and electives in AAS - Occupational Studies degree? Pug
Thanks Michael! Are those the only FEMA courses that are worth credit? I noticed that FEMA has a new 1900 course... I wonder if that matches up with anything? I attempted to use the PLA search engine myself, but I can't get it to show me the EDM-FEMA course matches.
What is/was IS 009? It's apparently not offered anymore. Also, I've failed IS 324 twice (Community Hurricane Preparedness)!!! I've never failed one of these things before. There are numerous audio/video sections that do not work, at least not on my two computers. Anyone have any suggestions, recources, tips, or would like to pass me a cheat sheet under the desk when a teacher isn't looking? (winks) Pug
TESC does not put much on this subject in writing. The TESC search engine only shows the descriptions for the EDM courses and does not mention FEMA Independent Study Courses. The list of EDM/FEMA/USFA courses is one I made from my TESC transcript and my FEMA/USFA transcripts, based on my submitting my FEMA/USFA transcripts and receiving credit on my TESC transcript. Several FEMA Independent Study courses have been discontinued over the years. IS-009 was one of them.
