I tried taking a few CLEP exams and failed miserably, did pass a few DSST exams. I’m just bad at taking timed exams.

So I’m looking for a quick/cheap degree with NO proctored exam. Please help!?!? NA accredited is fine.

I don't know if you are going to find the perfect combination of cheap, quick, and unproctored...but Penn Foster is extremely inexpensive (about $900 per semester and that includes books, 4 total semesters needed for the AA) and you can progress as quickly as you want. The only exams that are proctored are the finals...one per semester. You choose the proctor (can't be a family member) and the exams are untimed, open book.

All of that said, DO NOT CONFUSE this with being easy. Some courses will be easy for you and others will be more difficult, but the work is real.

Penn Foster is NA but many of their courses have been ACE evaluated for easy transfer to a TON of RA schools.

I can attest to the quality of the Penn Foster College progams. I breezed through some of them, but have struggled to get through the Math for Business and Finance course. That being said, I am still carrying a 96 average in the AS in Marketing program. Click on the link in my signature to read about my experiences with Penn Foster. I have been studying with them for over a year now.

I am finishing up my first semester with them now...I'm nearly done with my last course, english. The Math for Business and Finance course was difficult, but I had my wife to help me. Thank God!

To the best of my knowledge, I cannot think of any educational model in any country which offers a duly accredited degree without proctored exams that is inexpensive and quick. You might find a program somewhere that awards a credential upon completion of readings and writings, but that would certainly not be quick. The sort of school which would offer an alternative program like you seek, where efficient timed exams are replaced with a more labor-intensive learning process, would probably charge a premium as well.

Penn Foster (nee ICS) probably comes about as close to your requirements as an school. I don't think it's cheap, but it is affordable. It's not quick: if you're challenged completing exams in a normally alloted amount of time, their programs might take you years. They are implemented as four semesters which takes most students two years; I think ICS lets you take up to eighteen months to complete each semester if absolutely necessary.

You might talk to a counselor at a local college and see if there might be study method classes you can take to help with your difficulty on timed exams. Almost all degrees hinge upon timed, proctored axams and if you can whip that you'll have a tremendous number of additional opportunities.

    Good luck,
    Mark
