To write the request for proposal, or to write a proposal in response to a request for proposal?

I would suggest looking at schools that provide courses in contract management. These courses will discuss the various types of solicitations (RFPs, IFB,…), as well as the various types of responses to solicitations (bids, tenders, proposals), in addition to other contracting related areas like Statements of Work and contract types.

Saint Louis University offers an on-line degree and certificate in contract management (http://www.slu.edu/colleges/PS/contract_management.html).

CSU Pomona (http://www.bus.csupomona.edu/frl/minors_management.asp) also offers courses and degrees.

Keller Grad School offers a procurement and contracting course as part of its Masters in Project Management (MPM) available on-line (http://www.devry.edu/keller/programs/m_project_management/about.jsp).

The National Contract Management Association (NCMA) (www.ncmahq.org) is the place for training, education, and professional certification in contract management (CFCM, CCCM, CPCM).

RFPs for any field? I have taken MIS, HR-IS and Software Project Mgmt; all of which had the same chapter on the RFP process with examples.

Unfortuantely I couldn't get exempted from them...to be fair Software Project MGMT and the other two only had overlap for RFPs/Contractors but taking HR-IS after MIS was a waste!

    Darn HR People
