I thought this Article was interesting. Now if I could get a Yale degree for free....

"... along with transcripts in several languages"

Does that mean that one could enroll for free, get College credit if they pass, get a transcript from Yale and then use those credits towards a degree someplace else?

    From the article -

I'm not sure if you can transfer those to OTHER schools though.

I assume this is a reference to a written transcript of what the instructor says during the lecture, rather than an academic transcript.

Some of these are likely to make dandy independent learning material for credit at other schools.

Good study material for testing out too.

This move by Yale to democratize course content and put it online must surely be seen as the seminal event changing the education paradigm.

That might be true..... if MIT hadn't done it three years ago. Since then, MIT's OpenCourseware inititative has been expanded into a full-blown consortium consisting of member universities from around the world:

Does anyone know where I can apply the course?

The usefulness of these courses will largly depend upon what is posted.

Many times this consists of the syllabus and reading list.

The really useful ones include audio or video of the course lectures, but these seem to be a minority of current postings at MIT and other places.

    GME
