Just an FYI for those that don't know Nova is a candidate for AACSB accredidation. At least that's what the internal Dean announced this weekend. He said that's why they have made changes to the business programs. I hope they get it.

This is good for Nova and for the reputation of DL schools.
I know that Nova is a B&M school but its by far the biggest player in the DL pie along with UoP.

This is a great news for DL schools. I hope that Nova will be granted full AACSB accreditation in a near future.

From what I understand there are lots of online schools that are candidates. Did the announcement say if they are going for full accreditation?

There may be lots of on-line schools that are candidates for AACSB, but if/when Nova gets AACSB accreditation, it will be a significant accomplishment because it will be a first for a non-traditional (read: part-time) distance learning business doctorate program to achieve the gold standard of business accreditation.

Nova's potential accomplishment, along with Northcentral's potential (if/when) accomplishment of achieving ACBSP accreditation will create a whole new competition for non-traditional (Nova) and on-line (Northcentral) business doctoral programs.

For AACSB accreditation, there is no partial versus full accreditation. The school is either accredited or it is not. Many schools are members of AACSB, but not all members are accredited.

I didn't know that there are (1) partial accreditation and (2) full accreditation. Can you explain what you meant by full AACSB accreditation?

    Thanks.

You have to hand it to Nova Southeastern. They really seem to take their credibility seriously.

What I meant was that there are many, many schools that are candidates / members, and have no aspiration to be accredited.

The first step to be AACSB accredited is to become a member - but this entails no AACSB accreditation. Many schools stop there that only want the distinction of being a member, but will not go for accreditation.

Other schools then begin the 4-5 year process in trying to get accredited.

My question was that did they announce that they are members, or did they actually say they are going for accreditation. Though it seems to be a small difference, it is a big difference.

Nova has been a member of AACSB for more than 7 years. It's now seeking accreditation status, which of course starts with… well… application for candidacy or whatever it’s called.
