Would an Excelsior student search the courses database for me?

    I'm hunting for 200+ level music classes for a music degree at TESC, and am having horrible luck locating them. I see on Excelsior's website that they have a database of where to get classes that is available to their students. Would any Excelsior student be willing to search it and give me a list of music classes listed? Since I haven't seen the database, I don't know if that is an easy request... ??

    If anyone else knows of available music classes, I'd love to hear it too. I'm thinking I might have to change my major if I can't find the classes I need for less than $500-600 each. :( I do know of the Jazz class online from Indiana U.

    Thank you,
    Naomi

    Upper level DL music classes from an RA at $166 to $200 an hour are going to be REALLY hard to find.

    If you're willing to pay going rate for some really good classes:

    Berklee has music classes online. Music Theory 301 for 3 hours is $995 for example. Be sure to take the courses for credit - they have a cheaper non-credit option.

    Boston U. has a full MM online and TESC may accept grad courses as upper levels in an undergrad. Cost is somewhere around $2K per course as I recall.

    =====
    U. Mississippi and U. Southern Miss. have upper level musics in your price range. U Miss has Mus313 American Musical Theater and U South. Miss has Mus365 Enjoyment of Music.

    BYU has organ performance by DL as an upper level.

    OK State Stillwater has Geography of Music Mus4223 for $297 :D

    Ohio U has History and Lit. I & II for upper level 2 each under your price range.

    Those are all 300-400 from the Excelsior course search tool. 200 level courses are lower level at Excelsior.

    Florida State's World Music Cultures (200 level) is over $1000. :(

    Fort Hays State has American Pop Mus. (Mus 291) for only $366. Miami Dade Comm. Col. has a 200 level Music History but it's over $600.

    North Seatle Community College has Mus205 Jazz Masters of the 20th Century for $395

    Seatle Central Community College has Mus204 History of Jazz for $429

    U Idaho IS has History of Rock and Roll for $325

    U Kansas Mus298 Intro to Jazz is $548.25

    That's a few you might find helpful. If you can come up with the $ I'd highly recommend Berklee. BerkleeMusic.com -- most excellent courses.

    Thank you all SO much! That's really helpful. I'll check into all of these. I think I'm super spoiled because the CC here in Cali. is only $26/unit. So looking at $500 a class is more than I've ever paid for a whole semester's worth of classes. Thanks for your input, Naomi

    There's an old adage that you get what you pay for -- I generally don't agree with that when it comes to DL but;

    The courses from Berklee are worth every penny IMHO.

    Good luck - music is really hard to do by DL.
