That's pretty cool - from UOP to Harvard. But I think she might have gone the traditional route, being that she's from Arizona.

(That's an open admissions continuing education program from Harvard, I think.)

That would make sense going from UOP to Harvard Extension.

But the article says that she "attended the John F. Kennedy School of Government Program for State and Local Government Executives.

That's not Extension. That's the real deal.

But - it does say she only "attended" a "program" designed specifically for government executives. Not a degree program. (I'm still impressed though)

No, not Extension - and not open admissions, it turns out, at least in what appears to be the current form of the progam she took - but:

"Admission is selective, based on professional achievement and a proven commitment to public service. There is no formal educational requirement. Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential."

So Peters went to a school ANYBODY can go to and then had the Fed Govt pay for another program that ANYBODY (with funding and govt job) can be admitted to.

The Harvard program is a cash cow (on your tax dollar).

So I am not impressed - except that Peters is smarter than Callahan.

I posted this because I thought it would point out that it doesn't really matter where the degree is from (as long as it is accredited of course) but rather what the degree holder does with said education and experience.

Good Point! You could also look at it as in the business world: Your experience and contacts are more important than education at all!

Hey, anything that puts a positive light on UoP is good in my book. As a UoP grad, we tend to get the shaft quite often, so it's nice to win a small victory for a change!

Good intentions friend but I can guarantee you that ANYTIME you post anything that has UOP, Capella, etc......you are going to get piled on - at least in this forum. Funny how a lot of the same arrogant posters in this group just conveeeeeeeeeeeeiently tend to overlook similar types of deficiencies at thier own degree granting instituions. Gee agitation of the masses is fun.

Or a community college. Or Harvard Extension. There's nothing wrong with open admissions, and one can find it all along the spectrum of academic rigor.

Anyway, this is a coup for Phoenix, that's for sure.
