    Greetings,

First a little background. I was home schooled all the way through High School and am now 19 years old. Several years ago I started taking CLEPs and Dantes so I could get a head start on college. My plan has been to transfer all my credits to TESC to get a BA in Political Science. I want to test out of as many credits as possible, but I am willing to take a few classes to fulfill the requirements. I thought I had it all mapped out and was close to finishing.

    Problem 1:
I called TESC to enroll and they informed me that they have an age requirement of 21! I have heard of several people who already had their degree from TESC by 19. Does anyone have any experience appealing to the admissions department about this issue? I can understand them not wanting to let little kids in, but I already have the majority of my 120 credits ready to transfer in.

    Problem 2:
These past 2 years I naively thought that TESC would offer courses to fulfill all of their degree requirements. I was wrong. I really need a way of fulfilling their "International Relations" and "Comparative Governments" requirements for the Political Science degree. I have checked the big 3 and every other college that has popped into my head, and none of them offer exams or online courses for those two requirements.

I also checked a local university (University of Texas at Tyler) and they will let me take the courses on campus. BUT ONLY if I take a full semester of useless prerequisites first! I was hoping to graduate in May of 2007. But if I have to take 2 semesters at UTTyler to fulfill my 2 remaining requirements I won't graduate until 2008. Does anyone know of any online courses or exams for "International Relations" and "Comparative Governments"?

Gosh I typed a lot. Sorry to be so long winded. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Heath

AMU's a good choice. Alternatively, if for some reason their Comparative Political Systems course doesn't suit you, my employer, Southeastern University in Washington D.C., has a Comparative Political and Economic Systems course that should be online for the Winter term (January to March). PM me if you need more information.

    TESC age requirement

Hi, I am quite sure the age requirement will not be an issue if you credit bank your credits through American Council of Education for transfer. Remember Q118 and Q318 on the USFire Administration site as well as the FEMA EMI which are discussed at length on other postings. Please post your progress. I am trying to help several people who find the process overwhelming. Hille

University of Nebraska-Lincoln has the courses you need. I believe both are available as correspondence and online.

    http://independentstudy.unl.edu/cis_courses/credit.html

You can enroll in the courses without having to enroll in the school as a degree-seeking student. Tuition and fees for each course will be close to $700 + books, which isn't too bad.

Thanks so much for all of the info! I now have hope that I might be able to graduate on schedule. I am still calling a couple of the schools suggested to see if it will work out. One problem that I am having is that I have already used up my 6 intro level credits in the area of study plan. That means that these credits have to be upper level (at least 200 level, but preferably 300 or 400 level).

Please continue to let me know if you hear of any online courses for International Relations or Comparative Governments. They seem rather difficult to find (at least for me! lol) When I ran a google search the only school I could find that offered them online was a university in New Zealand! Not only are the recommended options closer, they are much cheaper!

Thanks again! Yall are the greatest.
