Please Need Help With a Questionable School

Ok, I don't know much about high school degree mills, but I have a close friend who is trying to get his high school degree from: www.diplomaathome.com/
It looks like a mill, and I want to tell him but I'd like some feedback on this before I talk to him.

They claim to be "fully accredited by the National Association for the Legal Support of Alternative Schools."
Anyone heard of this?

Looks like a hoot but I'm looking for a second opinion.

 

Find out whether the U.S. Department of Education www.ed.gov recognizes high school accreditors; I know they recognize college accreditors.

It appears they are claiming to be a private Christian school. They claim an affiliation (but not at accreditation) with the Association of Christian Schools International, which is not reconized by CHEA or the U.S. Department of Education.

They offer a money-back guarantee if a student is not able to enter a college with their high school diploma. However, they also make a few comments on their web site which sound a bit mill-ish, such as "get you diploma in 6-12 weeks" and "unhappy with your grade? Re-take your exam after receiving helpful suggestions from your instructor until you get the grade you want".

I guess the students of this school could claim they were home-schooled, but they certainly aren't receiving a recognized diploma.

 

The unadulterated ugliness of that site would scare the crap out of me!

 

Questionable school

It's great your friend is trying to get his HS diploma, but he should at least get it from a well known school so it doesn't haunt him later on. Why take the chance?

 

I want to say thanks for all of your comments and advice.
I will speak to him (my friend) tomorrow and discourage him from this "school".

This is from the school's site. I don't think this means that the accreditor is -recognized- by DOE, merely that it's on some tabulation list.

Clearly they want to imply that its recognized. Very deceptive.

 

Looks like a novice high school student "attempted" to make their website for them.

Simply the worst..

Personally speaking, I would stay clear of that place.
