  1. after completing 26 fema courses i came to the realization that i do not need any for my BS in POL SCIENCE. i took enough credits by exam and surpassed the need for them, but on the bright side all i wasted was my time, I never had them evaluated. So yeah i am a little pissed but ill get over it, maybe they ll help out in getting my second degree.

Can you use them for the "applied professional" credits? I did.

  3. since i already took so many danets and cleps that count as applied professional and my military credits I have over 60. so that is a bummer.

Then don't use them in your bachelor's degree at all, but add a line in your resume for your extensive training in emergency management from the Federal Emergency Management Administration Emergency Management Institute, United States Department of Homeland Security. Unless it evokes a post-Katrina FEMA joke or two, as an add-on to that bachelor's degree you should have in pocket pretty soon, it's nothing but impressive, and would almost certainly lift you a level or two in many job competitions.

I agree. You can always use it to quip that you're more qualified than Michael Brown. ;)

You really didn't waste your time at all... you took great advantage of it because now you have credits handy for use on another degree, should you choose to go for it.

I'm taking Fema Courses myself right now. Since Sunday, I've already passed 4 final exams, and I have to say that I am learning a great deal about the disaster management process; many things that I didn't know before. The courses on radioactivity were eye-opening.

At the same time, I'm finding that the Government has certainly failed to follow the very procedures that they've constructed, on a number of occasions.

(Wouldn't the trouble with using them towards another degree be that they are all or almost all lower-level? I expect that you would need to find and pay for a number of upper-level courses. Do any of the Big Three allow a bachelor's degree holder to earn an associate's degree? I seem to recall at least one of them specifically disallowing this, and if Charter Oak allowed it, I'm not sure how much that would do since their associate's isn't specialized in any way.)

I wonder... After you take the Fema course credits to TESC and have them turned into RA credits through the credit bank, would other RA schools besides Excelsior accept them?

I think all of the grades that TESC gives you for Fema courses are 'P' grades... I wonder if that would be an issue when transferring to other RA schools?

  9. embry riddle said that they would take as many as i need to fill up my free electives, and that was 18 credits.

That sounds like a pretty good deal.

I'm taking an Associates Business course, and I'm hoping that my school (Ashford) will take all of them (I'm planning to take all 37 or so courses). I think they will take them, because they happen to be one of the few RA schools that will actually accept Ashworth College credits... I figure, if they'll take those they'll almost certainly take Fema credits. Of course, I doubt they'll take them unless they've been converted into RA College credits prior to submission.

Since their policy is that they will accept all RA credits, turning the Fema courses into RA credits through the TESC credit bank should make this a snap.
