I got an e-mail from APUS today:

    HIGHLIGHTS

APUS has increased their graduate tuition rate for graduate course from $250/hr to $275/hr. It will take effect for classes starting in January 2007. If you pay for Juanuary 2007 before November 27, 2006, you will pay at the old rate.

The undergraduate tuition rate will remain the same.

Also, they said that they intend to offer Title IV funding by the end of the year.

Not surprised at this at all. I'm just glad it wasn't more.

    Supply and demand.

So, in other words, if you're an undergrad the increase is zero, and if you're a grad student and you register a month in advance the increase is zero, and otherwise it's ten percent.

That's not bad at all -- probably not even attributable to RA.

It either might or not be attributable to RA and/or Title IV. Such as it is, since RA is supposed to have greater utility than NA, getting RA would increase the utility of the degree, which could increase the demand, which would increase the price. Also, getting RA has made Title IV funding possible, which was not a possibility while it was NA-only, which increases the number of people who can afford to pay, which increases demand, which would increase the price. On the other hand, AMU tuition has been pegged at $250/hour for years, as well as which military TA benefits have been pegged at $250/hour for years. Anyone want to guess whether military TA benefits have gone up recently?

As of now military TA is still capped at $250/semester hour.

I'm a long time reader and observer.
This is exciting because I am a student there. I was checking the Department of Education website and found American Public University/American Military University brand new school code.

    This is it.
