    There have been some threads in the past on this forum--including one active one here now--about the appearance of diplomas from various institutions.

    I will receive an Ed.S. (which is a degree) totally online from Northwestern State University of Louisiana next year. My curiosity--and nothing more--leads me to wonder what the diploma will look like. Does anyone know?

    No, I'm not a troll, I'm not a diploma counterfeiter, or any other dastardly human being. I'm just inquisitive.

    I don't have any information about the diploma, but I'm extremely interested in this program. I have sent email inquiries but so far haven't received a reply.

    Do you know what the tuition is (approximately) for the online EdS?

    Thank you.

    I don't know the Northwestern State University diploma in particular, but 99% of the college diplomas I've ever seen use basically the same format:

    {The name of the school in a drop shadow gothic font}

    The Faculty {and/or} Trustees of the {type of school} in recognition of the successful completion of the course of study required by the

    {Name of the sub-unit of school attended}

    have conferred on

    {Degree holder}

    the degree of

    {degree title}

    Given at {city} in the state of {state} this {day} day of {month}, {year}

    {University Seal} {State Seal if a public school}

    {Four signatures, usually the chairman of the board of trustees, the president and secretary of the university, and the dean of the particular school}

    And that's it. To be honest, most diplomas are actually pretty boring. I've got mine hanging in the office, but they're there more to remind me of the achievement than to add to the decor.

    I wish it were true that all diplomas are essentially the same. My daughter graduated from a small private college and received a diploma that looks as though it were printed on an ink jet printer. I sent a letter of complaint to the college president and received a reply that they were trying to cut costs (how insulting after the tens of thousands of dollars paid for my daughter's education). The diploma is so cheesy looking that it would be embarrassing to display it.

    I have to agree with you in this. When I got my Diploma from Upper Iowa University, I was so disappointed with the Diploma that I never put in my wall. After one year they did change the diploma to a much better one, and I of course requested a new one, and this one I did display.

    tekman and basrsu,

    Please tell me more about the EdS at Northwestern State. I'm interested in the experience of taking the program and in the cost.

    Thanks much,
    Tricia

    My BSOE from Wayland Baptist University was a needle point creation on cloth...beat that!!!

    Actually my wife made me a needle point copy of my degree so I could hang it up in the office at work...I didn't wanna take my "real degree" to work.
