My only 8 week course has a deadline of August 20th. I have to finish my lessons and take two tests. To top it all off, school just started for 4 of my 5 children. This is going to be a long weekend.
So, you have two weekends and one full week to get things done. Sorry I don't have much in the way of advice, but I wish you well, if that means anything. What is your university's policy on incompletes?
Send the kids for two weeks to a grandparents house might work. That's all I can think of ask your extended family for help if you can.
I have been in your position, without the kids and those pressures, several times during my academic pursuits. You will make it through this just as you have made it through every crisis that 5 kids can provide. I suggest this is an easy one if you compare it to most other life challenges you have face. In the case of this 8 week course you have a deadline, an outline of expectations, and a study sequence. In the realm of life you deal with all of the pressures of a course without guidelines. If I were in your position, and I have been, I would plan my essential life commitments (job and kids) and then fill in the gaps with academics. You will find there really is lots of time to meet all your needs.
When I'm in those situations, I find I'm more productive when I disconnect the Internet and have nothing left to do but type. I guess that's an ADD coping mechanism or something? -=Steve=-
almost there!!! Hello everyone, It's a good thing that I can type fast. I finished my lessons and took one test. I have a couple of more lessons to watch and one more test to take. I know I will make the August 20th deadline. I will then have 2 months to complete my other classes. I plan on working one one per month. That way I can concentrate better. I'm getting there....slowly but getting there.
I agree with Dave! Your success at Liberty will definately inspire others to keep up their effort. Awsome!
Re: almost there!!! Wow! That’s incredible. You are an inspiration! Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go study. [Got to keep up with the "mom of 5"s in the world you know]
How did you survive? August is always a crazy time, isn't it? You ARE an inspiration. I just read an article today about your school in the current issue of "U.S. News & World Report 2007 Edition of America's Best Colleges" and thought of you. I've been struggling to get ready for school next week, deciding whether to drop my current school (ODU) because my class will have 170 other "distance learners" in it, and I've been conditionally admitted to another (bricks & mortar) school that I really like....decision time! So, I hope the 8 week format is still ok with you, and that if life intereferes, your professors will understand! Keep us posted, as always!
