Is anyone familiar with the inner workings of the University of South Africa course curriculum? I have been surfing their site and became somewhat confused. The site lists varied versions of the PhD in Public Administration. There is the Doctor of Administration, there is the Doctor of Literature and Philosophy in Public Administration, there is the Doctor of Commerce in Public Administration and then there is the Doctor of Administration in Public Administration. Can any of you provide insight into what you perceive the differences to be?

    Much Obliged,

It will depend on your area of specialization and the faculty offering the degree. If you are already holding an MBA, you will likely want to move in to the DComm. But if you want to specialize in Business Administration then perhaps check into the requirements for DAdmin. Public Administration will likely be divided depending on your specialization ie: a more theoretical approach may be in the DLitt et Phil degree while a practical study could be in the DAdmin (PAdmin).

A good start is to contact Unisa Canada for all of North American students and prospective students. It is the licensing agent for NA and can answer all of these sort of questions. They are the best way in to the adminstration of the university for registration and contacts.

Contact Dr Michael Esselen at [email protected]
and he should be able to point the way for you.

Hope this helps, or at least gets you started.
