Are there tutors available anywhere to help one grasp and write the following during the dissertation process:
    • Narrowing down a dissertation topic that can be measured (and ultimately approved by a committee).
    • Determining what is going to be measured - and how to measure it (constructs, variables, independent variables, gag me).
    • Determining what questions to ask (survey?).
    • Determining the significance of the measurements.
    • Anything else even remotely related to these issues.
This will be a long-term endeavor and I'm willing to pay good $$$ for a competant tutor who can walk me through these issues over the next couple of years. Are such tutors available? Anyone ever heard of such a thing?

No laughings, scoffings, criticisms or judgements please (save it for another thread).

Four questions to determine where you are:

Do you have a basic research topic that needs more refining or are you starting from scratch?

How much stats have you had?

Have you taken a research design/research methods course?

Are you scheduled to take either or both of these courses?

    me again,

Don't forget, your doctoral coursework includes the following.

    Doctoral Coursework

RSH8951-DBA - Research Questions, Constructs and Design
RSH8952-DBA - Measurement of Constructs and Concept Paper
RSH8953-DBA - Design, Statistics, and Data Analysis
RSH8954-DBA - Research Ethics and Proposal

    DIS9007DBA - Doctoral Dissertation Proposal
    DIS9017DBA - Doctoral Dissertation Data
DIS9027DBA - Doctoral Dissertation Final Review

During the RSH courses, you will produce chapters 1-3 of your dissertation. During the DIS courses, you will produce chapters 4-5.

Also, if you have an idea as to what you want to do your dissertation on, the refining process will come.

Any comments from NCU students going through the doctoral coursework?

I still have two more traditional classes, followed by a comps class -- and then the dissertation begins.
Scratch. My brother suggested doing something along the lines of employee satisifaction, but I haven't the foggiest idea how to measure it or what questions to construct or how to construct them bla blaa blah blaaaaaaaa bla bla. Are there pre-made surveys that we can use?
Undergrad stats about 10 years ago and grad stats about 5 years ago. How much do I remember? About zero. I'll pay someone to determine which methods to use and to crunch the numbers for me and to explain their significance -- and then I'll put it into writing.
Nope. Can you say freeze up? How about brick wall?
As PhD2B pointed out, the NCU dissertation process consists of the following courses:
    • RSH8951-DBA - Research Questions, Constructs and Design
    • RSH8952-DBA - Measurement of Constructs and Concept Paper
    • RSH8953-DBA - Design, Statistics, and Data Analysis
    • RSH8954-DBA - Research Ethics and Proposal
I've looked through the syllabuses for these courses and it doesn't really explain how to do these things, which concerns me. If this were an in-resident program, then it would be explained by an in-person professor who is standing in front of the class -- but this is DL so that obviously isn't an option. Again, this is causing me great concern and my only alternative is to consider hiring a tutor to walk me through this stuff. I found this and this during a google search, but I don't know anything about them - yet.
