    NCU INCREASED DISSERTATION FEE

Effective October 1, 2006, the dissertation fee will be $2000.00.

If you have begun the RSH sequence of courses or will begin RSH courses on or before October 1, 2006, you may prepay the entire doctoral dissertation fee or any remaining portion at the existing $1600.00 rate.

I suppose they wouldn't have to do this if NCU students excercised a little more brevity in their writing. :)

You could ask - promise in writing to write 75% of the minimum required lenght and see what they say ;)

OTOH - especially for a veteran - the value is hard to beat - I may go back and get an MBA once I'm thru with the Ed.D.

The digital resources/libraries are especially well organized. I suppose I should find out if I can access them as an alumni.

    NCU Dissertation Increase

I am beginning my third RSH course. My problem the increase is the length of time it takes to review the concept paper, and the other RSH papers. I think 2-3 weeks is unacceptable, particularly after the first review, which is probably the most comprehensive one. I have complained to NCU, for whatever it is worth.

On a more serious note, while my current progress is 25% of the way (and 50%) to the point of needing to pay the fee - the savings is substantial enough to warrant paying early and investing the difference (I'm averaging over 22% on prosper.com in case anyone is interested in outperforming their savings account).

This is only the beginning. I hear the school is building a small campus for staff so expect large tuition increases in the next couple of years.
