    Subject: DTh programme

    Dear Prospective Doctoral Student,
We have heard from the Council on Higher Education.

The Council on Higher Education has elected not to accredit SATS for its DTh programme at this time. From the reasons given it is clear that they feel we have not yet developed enough to be able to offer the degree. Whilst we disagree with their rationale, we respect the decision. We will pursue discussions with them on the matter in order to plan the best way forward.

In the light of the above comments, we would understand if you elect not to continue your enrolment with SATS and to apply for postgraduate studies elsewhere. As any accreditation of the programme would be some time away. Nevertheless, we will continue to pursue our accreditation and will keep you informed of any new developments.

Your support during this time has been most appreciated.

    Blessings,

    Ouch!!

    OUCH!!!

Guess I'm not surprised the government has opted to give SATS more time to prove itself, especially since it would be the first non-state school approved for the government accredited doctorate in theology in South Africa.

SATS remains a very good choice for anyone wanting to do studies with a quality faculty up through the MTh.

And..... South Africa still offers many fine study options through their several distance education offerings --

U-Zululand; U-South Africa; Auckland Park Theological Seminary; Cape Town Baptist Seminary; Greenwich School of Theology; Stellenbosch University; University of Pretoria; and University of the Free State.
