They seem to be offering courses for $14.99 given by Louis LaVolpe I think it is, who's the head of film study at NYU?

Does someone have more info on this? On the one hand it's too incredible to be for real, but on the other, if *I* was running a program like this, at least I'd try and bring in more than $14.99 for a course!

I don't know where to go to verify this place's credentials or get more info.

You might be better off with D.O.V. Siemens WebFilmSchool.com which has endorsements from Quentin Tarantino (who did not go to school for film) and other starts. It costs $400 and is non-academic but they offer real world information.

If you're interested in screenwriting, UCLA offers a Certificate in Feature Film Writing that's pretty affordable and can be completed online.

    Good luck!!!

Thanks so much! I can't seem to get the site for the webfilmschool.com to work, but the UCLA certificate looks awesome. Am I mistaken, is the price actually $200, or am I missing charges somewhere?

Yeah, I think you might of mis-read something. Here's from their website:

<<The total estimated cost of this program is $2,600-$3,100. Cost estimates do not include incidental costs such as parking fees or copying fees. Total cost may vary depending on the electives taken. The candidacy fee of $150 is good for six consecutive quarter/terms and is renewable at $50 per year.>>

For the WebFilmSchool, try going to: http://www.webfilmschool.com/ or his other (older) site with the same materials and same price http://www.hollywoodu.com/. I read D.O.V. Siemens' book From Reel to Deal before and he really has some great info. When I have the $389 I think I'm going to buy the DVD set.

I estimated the UCLA program would cost approx $3500, but you would have learned practical screenwriting Feature Film Writing skills at a premiere school with working writers. The .pdf brochure for the program is: http://www.uclaextension.edu/unex/online_prof_prog/sw.pdf

The New York Film Academy has incredible programs but are obscenely expensive, on top of that, they are not online and would require a move for some people: http://www.nyfa.edu/

Thanks to you all for your help! I'm interested in webfilmschool.com, but hoping to get more information on it (I e-mailed the site), and the UCLA film certificate is not offered 100% online, I don't know if any of their theater arts related programs are.

Hopefully something will work out though. :)

Actually, UCLA's Certificate in Feature Film Writing is 100% online (I believe). But their other, more interesting courses, are ground based. I was particular interested in their producing programs.

    Good luck!

Found an online school for Motion Picture and Television production

Academy of Art University offers an AA and BFA in directing, screenwriting, production, cinematograpy, etc. I don't think they're RA but have accreditation and are able to process federal financial aid.

They also offer a wholly online MFA in Motion Picture and Television production. The MFA rates seem high, though, at 650 per credit for 63 credits.

Still, this is good for anyone looking for an online program like this. I looked at Miami International University and University of Miami (local to me) and their tuition was about the same.
