Is anyone aware of a PhD/Doctoral Degree in Criminology (not Criminal Justice) that can be completed through distance learning? Could be offshore or US based, regionally or state accredited. Thanks...
The only one I can think of at the moment is the University of South Africa. Just be aware the degree awarded is the Doctor of Literature and Philosophy (DLitt et Phil), not the Ph.D. There are probably more options with British and/or Australian research doctorates.
CSU PhD No, the information is for a friend of mine who is interested in completing her PhD in the field. As for me, I am still at CSU working on my PhD in Public Policy although I am looking to transfer. I am currently doing very well with my studies, at the moment, and I do love CSU. My problem is the area of focus is Police Management. I have no interest and no nothing of Police Management Systems. I enrolled in the program because I wanted and still do want a PhD in Public Policy. CSU was the only program that I could find even remotely related to Public Policy. I thought, at the very least, that it would be a close match but I was wrong. If anyone comes across a Public Policy PhD program (not Walden) either here or foreign, please point me in that direction. Kind Regards and Many Thanks..
Bruce: Criminology Great Question Bruce. As you probably remember, my masters is in law and public policy. My ideal program would be in Public Policy and/or some type of Leadership program without the business administration/management content. I do have an interest in law, society and public society. Actually, the doctor of strategic leadership degree offered at Regent University remains my number one interest, followed by a degree in Public Policy. Criminology became my third interest because most of what I studied at the masters level would be a part of the Criminology syllabi content. I feel that quite a bit of my credits might potentially flow over thereby making my study time shorter. The reason I haven't pursued Regent is because of the amount of Residential Institutes that I would have to attend. It does not coincide with my school, work and family obligations. Take care and thanks for your support.
Which does CSU stand for: a) California State University b) Colorado State University c) Columbia Southern University d) Chicago State University e) Coastline Community College (obviously not, but it shows that CSU can mean anything to anyone) f) other Can you please provide a link to your particular program?
I will be corrected if I'm wrong but I believe in this case the CSU in question is Charles Sturt University in Australia.
CSU Yes, thank you, Novemberdude. By CSU I refer to Charles Sturt University. I didn't think anyone would be interested in what CSU meant or I would have clarified. My apologies.
Doctor of Public Policy Link (CSU) Information on the doctor of public policy program at Charles Sturt University may be found here. I fully recommend the school to anyone that asks. http://www.csu.edu.au/courses/postgraduate/public_policy_doctor/
