My son has just finished his classics degree at UNCA and wants to follow dad's example into the exciting world of distance learning. He has a continued interest in Linguistics, Comparitive Mythology and/or Classics. We have looked at the FSU Ph.d. and we are looking for other options. Has anyone any ideas?
UF has DL PhDs in Classical Civilization and Latin and Roman Studies http://www.distancelearning.ufl.edu/degrees.aspx?d=doctorate
Thanks Yeah, I didn't mean FSU I meant that one...I'm beginning to think it may be the only one offered stateside.
Tally ho! Maybe, but it's a big planet. If you like the UK, the PhD in Archaeology & Ancient History from the University of Leicester isn't too expensive. I know you said Linguistics, Comparitive Mythology and/or Classics, but from that page: "Acceptable thesis topics can be virtually anything relating to the wide-ranging research interests of the School's substantial staff of archaeologists and ancient historians, who constitute potential PhD supervisors." Worth a look? -=Steve=-
Thanks Steve I think he is looking for somewhere covered by US Finaid. I've lost the web address of the PDF from the Gov.Ed. site that lists the out of country school that accept US finaid. Anyone remember that one?
