Check out this link for LSU. A 3 hour credit course is $229.00, and of course they are RA to boot. http://www.is.lsu.edu/courselist.asp?nid=202&Level=CO&Online=1 Abner
Clovis Community College is RA and runs $110 per 3-hour class They have an online format. I have found nothing cheaper, NA or RA, especially with an online format. An entire Associates degree would run $2200! That's WAY cheaper than even Penn Foster or Ashworth, both of which are NA. Penn Foster is a good, inexpensive option at $55 per hour because the price includes your books. They are NA but most of their courses have been ACE evaluated so they will transfer easily into most RA schools. Here is the link to the ACE page that lists the evaluated courses - https://www.acenet.edu/nationalguide/results/index.cfm?sid=34493. Pug
I googled San Juan College and the tuition is going up to $40/undergrad credit hour for out-of-state residents effective with the Fall 06 semester. If you are a New Mexico resident, the tuition will be $30/undergrad credit hour. Most of the courses appear to be 3 credit hours. Here is the link to the Tuition page: http://www.sanjuancollege.edu/pages/139.asp Does anyone have any experiences to share regarding San Juan College?
I've only taken one course with them, but as far as I can tell Penn Foster only has proctored exams for degree students. So, if you were taking individual courses, there wouldn't be any.
I'm not sure about Clovis Community College, but I believe their exams are unproctored, timed. You'd have to confirm. Penn Foster, even if in the degree program, has proctored final exams but they are open book, untimed. Don't confuse this with being easy though! All other exams are unproctored, online and untimed. Are you looking to take courses or enter into a degree program? Pug
im just looking for some cheap credits that i can get to add to an excelsior degree, on top of the courses i am already taking.
i have taking a ton of dsst and cleps but it is comming down to things that i personally cant test out of. Things like humanities that for me would take longer to study for than to take a few classe.
Then your cheapest options are going to be San Juan, Clovis, Penn Foster (NA but most are ACE evaluated), LSU, BYU, and FHSU. FHSU has the advantage of offering many of their courses in an 8 week format. Pug
8 weeks is only an advantage if you need the 8 weeks to complete the material. BYU and U Colorado - Pueblo allow a year but don't require that you take any longer than it takes to get it done...
Sleep? Coach, Not to hijack the thread or anything but, looking at your signature line, I wonder do you find the time to sleep? You will soon to have three master's programs going at once? Wow, I wish you all the luck in the world with that!! And here I was thinking that having a concurrent associates and double major bachelors going was a lot. Hang in there soldier and may the education gods shine down upon thee!! Justin
FYI, Arizona Western College - http://www.azwestern.edu/business_and_administrative/business_office/tuition_schedule.html - $46/cr. New Mexico Community College - http://www.nmjc.edu/distancelearning/coursescourseschedules/courseschedule.aspx - $39/cr. (if you take 2-11hrs.) Not the cheapest, but it may give someone a few more online class options at a cheap rate. This site, http://www.aacc.nche.edu, gives a lot of info on community colleges throughout the country. It looks as though New Mexico and Arizona have some of the best rates per credit hour for out of state fees, but you have to watch out for the technology fees. Many of the community colleges in the New Mexico and Arizona areas charge under $50/cr. for distance education courses, as long as the course load is not over 7 hours. I'm looking for cheap classes for a friend and thought I'd pass on the info.
PennFoster 3 credit hour course will cost $165 books included. They do have proctored exams and just about anybody can be your proctor as long as there not related to you and they have degree. PennFoster has approx 140 ACE evaluated courses that Excelsior will accept Humanties Art Appreciation Music Apprection
