First, thanks for all the information on this board.

I will be enrolling in Excelsior and testing out of as many credits as possible.

My new question is has anyone recieved financial aid using this route? Will financial aid even be available to me since this is such a non-traditional way of obtaining a degree?

Once again, thanks the information here is likely to save me alot of time and money.

There should be a list of schools where you can tender your federal student loans at www.fafsa.ed.gov .

I've attended several DL schools and I've used financial aid at all of them. As long as they're Regionally Accredited (RA) and offer financial aid through the Dept. of Ed. you should not have a problem. I believe Excelsior offers federal financial aid.

If you're talking about receiving aid for the classes you test out of, you probably will have to contact the school's financial aid office (or admissions office) for that info. Do they charge you a regular class tuition for testing out (i.e. $585 per credit for 3 credits even its only one test)?

After checking the FAFSA link that Ted provided you can also go to www.excelsior.edu and click on Costs to get a list of Fin. Aid options.
