We all have our pet causes and over the last couple years one of mine has been Law Tutors Online (LTO). I visited their site today and discovered that they've ceased operation. They served as an online tutorial college for the University of London external LLB and LLM programmes. I always liked the way they did business. The tutors were helpful and I found them to be really interested in educating the student. Link: www.lawtutorsonline.co.uk and for the UoL LLB: www.londonexternal.ac.uk
Regrettable but not surprising. U of London has resturctured its Laws programs to greatly reduce the need for tuition. My experience with LTO was somewhat mixed. I did not get all that I paid for but what I got was both very high quality and a lot of fun.
Regarding the restructuring of the Laws programs, is this true at the undergraduate level also? It's interesting that you describe your LTO experience as a lot of fun. I found that too, the people were great and despite being geographically far removed from the university and being tutored by non university staff I felt really part of the school. I learned a lot from them.
Re: UoL LL.B. Yeah, I think so. Look on the web site. The first year, at least, is heavily supported.
