Can anyone confirm how semester credit hours equate to quarter credits. My current program offers classes worth 4 quarter credits each - and I was wondering if this would equate directly to a 3 credit semester credit hour, if I decided to transfer.
4 qtr hrs = 2.67 sem hrs. Some schools will round, some will give you the semester hours for their closest matching course.
How many quarter-credits does your school require for a Bachelor's? If it's 160 it ought to transfer 4 to 3, if more then it may not. -=Steve=-
I'll use Strayer University as an example here: All their courses were recently converted to 4.5 quarter hours, so they are equivalent to 3 semester hours. A Bachelor's is 180 quarter hours (120 semester) and a Master's is 54 quarter hours (36 semester units) As you can see this is very good for transfer students because they don't have to deal with the 2.667 transfer credit mess. When I worked at UOP I counseled several students who only needed .33 credits to graduate (because they transferred in from schools who were on the quarter system), and they would make them take a 1 credit hour course, CLEP, or do Prior Learning assessment...I can't even imagine how annoyed I would be if I needed .33 credits to graduate....
